Senior Accounting Manager/ Division Controller

Overview

 

Southern Crushed Concrete (SCC), a division of Webber, is a leading manufacturing company in the Greater Houston area for recycled materials, demolition and mining operations.  The company is looking to fill its Senior Accounting Manager/Division Controller position, a key role in the SCC Webber Finance organization, located at its headquarter office in the Woodlands, Texas.   This position will oversee all aspects of SCC financial operations, process improvements, year-end audits, financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, system implementation, internal controls policies and procedures.

 

Job Duties

 

  1. In charge of all accounting operations, including AR, AP, GL, Inventory, Project Accounting, Fixed Assets and revenue recognition.
  2. Responsible for the company's month-end and year-end close process by ensuring accurate financial results while meeting corporate due dates.
  3. Establish the company's annual budget and forecasts and analyze financial variances, provide thorough explanations for variances to upper management.
  4. Provide strategic support to SCC operations leadership to grow the company revenue and profitability.
  5. Review monthly financial statements and compare them with forecasts and prepare insightful KPI to accompany the financial analysis and reports
  6. Maintain adequate Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting as well as transaction level controls.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, be part of the solutions team to provide efficiency to all levels of employees
  8. Create and improve business processes and accounting policies and procedures to provide maximum return while maintaining internal controls.
  9. Manage the interim and year-end audits with the external audit firm and meeting the audit's calendar.
  10. Superior knowledge and understanding of inventory accounting in general, specific knowledge in standard cost accounting and price purchase variances, production costs, material cost, unit costs and overhead expenses.
  11. Responsible for the accuracy of bank activities and reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations monthly, as well as review and approve of extraordinary journal entries.
  12. In charge of all Intercompany accounting transactions and reconciliations
  13. Manage company's monthly sales tax return filing and audit
  14. Good knowledge and experience with Texas sales tax regulations and exemptions rules
  15. Understand Texas lien and claim regulations
  16. Exceptional analytical skills and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with all levels of management.
  17. Collaborate with other divisions/corporate finance and operations to provide best in class support to SCC management
  18. Provide development and training to accounting staff and lead team to achieve personal career goals.
  19. Understand and work to lead others comply with policies and procedures
  20. A Leading player in ERP new functionality testing and implementation
  21. Special projects as requested by management

 

 

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance, CPA is a plus
  2. Big 4 firm experience is a plus.
  3. Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience with supervision of staff and in progressive roles
  4. Accounting experience in manufacturing industry is preferred.
  5. Thorough knowledge of U.S Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  6. Strong analytical, detail oriented and good computer skills.
  7. High level of proficiency Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, PowerPoint)
  8. Knowledge of Spectrum and SAP ERP and JWS software is a plus.
  9. Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  10. System implementation experience will be valuable
  11. Must be able to manage a high-performance staff effectively as well as working with the high performance corporate accounting team.
  12. Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
  13. Highly degree of integrity including ability to successfully deal with sensitive or confidential information
  14. Demonstrated track record in managing multiple assigned duties, taking responsibility, and collaborating with others
