Job Description:  Senior Accountant


Schedule             Monday through Friday with some extended hours during peak work times. 

Travel                   Negligible



Southern Crushed Concrete (SCC), a division of Webber, is a leading manufacturing company in the Greater Houston area for recycled materials, demolition and mining operations.  The company is looking to fill a Senior Accountant position located at its headquarter office in the Woodlands, Texas.   This position will oversee the day-to-day accounting duties including inventory, general ledgers, accounts payable, bank transactions, reconciliation and financial analysis.  The Senior Accountant will assist SCC Controller in preparing all financial reports, budget and forecast as well as handling the company external year-end audit requests.   This position reports directly to the SCC Controller.


Job Duties

  1. Prepare weekly and monthly accounting entries to record financial transactions timely and accurately
  2. Manage all fixed assets transactions including the setup, disposal and depreciation run
  3. Verify, review, and post accounts payable, accounts receivable, bad debt, bank fees, and other general ledger entries.
  4. Generate AP check runs and prepare positive pay file for transmitting to bank
  5. Review the bank daily transactions and monthly statements for cash reconciliations and bank fees
  6. Understand standard cost inventory accounting
  7. Perform general ledger account reconciliations monthly and record necessary entries to correct balances as needed
  8. Ensure all accounting entries are recorded timely and accurately to meet corporate due dates
  9. Assist in the year-end close process and external interim and year-end audits
  10. Handle all Intercompany accounting transactions and reconciliation
  11. Prepare and file monthly sales tax return and assist with sales tax audits
  12. Perform monthly consolidation and variance analysis.
  13. Assist with budget and forecast
  14. Prepare monthly financial statements, management report including narratives, "Budget vs. Actual" variance analysis, and provide follow-up and documentation of significant variances.
  15. Backup to AR manager for AR and cash receipts processing
  16. Collaborate with other division' finance and operations to provide best in class support to SCC management
  17. Understand and work to help others comply with policies and procedures
  18. A key player in ERP new functionality testing and implementation
  19. Handle special projects are requested by management





  1. Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance.
  2. Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, manufacturing industry preferred.
  3. Good understanding and knowledge of U.S Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  4. Strong analytical, detail oriented and good computer skills.
  5. High level of proficiency Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, PowerPoint)
  6. Knowledge of Spectrum ERP and JWS software is a plus.
  7. Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
  9. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact within all levels of management.
  10. Understand Texas lien and claim regulations a plus
  11. Highly degree of integrity including ability to successfully deal with sensitive or confidential information
  12. Demonstrated track record in managing multiple assigned duties, taking responsibility, and collaborating with others
