Job Description: Project Controls Engineer

Location The Woodlands Corporate Office


The Project Controls Engineer will perform a variety of task related to supporting the Project Controls Department in the development and management of processes for the company to improve efficiency and reporting.       


  • Assist with the development and management of the Project Control systems to increase efficiency and provide project and company management with accurate information.
  • Assist with data storage and management of data from company software.
  • Perform analysis of data stored in the project management and cost control systems.
  • Assist with building and maintaining reports using reporting tools (Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Use conceptual ideas to help define new processes, best management practices, and reports.
  • Create presentations using graphs, diagrams, and other exhibits to illustrate status using Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
  • Understand and apply engineering and construction management terminology, concepts, and relationships.
  • Assist the Division Scheduling Managers to Analyze, evaluate, report, and forecast current status against an established baseline schedule.
  • Will interface with various corporate and divisional departments Scheduling, Document Control, Cost, Equipment, and others.
  • Assign work in terms of objectives, priorities and deadlines and provides additional assistance with new or unusual assignments.
  • Plan and carry out recurring work using established procedures, conferring with the supervisor or higher-level Engineer as necessary on technical problems.
  • Provide assessment with corrective action recommendations to management.
  • Perform other functions associated with this position as appropriate.


  • 4-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is required.
  • 2 plus years of experience on a construction project assisting and supporting the management of the project is required.
  • Moderate experience using Primavera P6 Software experience is preferred.
  • Experience in construction performing task as a Construction Project Engineer managing quantity, cost and schedule control is preferred (tracking quantities, reviewing cost reports, forecast, schedule updates, etc.)
  • Proficient PC skills including proficiency in various Project Controls software and Microsoft Office 365 is a plus.
  • Proficient in excel highly preferred (complex formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Experience using Excel Power Pivot, Microsoft Power BI or other Business Intelligence software preferred.
  • Microsoft SharePoint experience is a plus.
  • Database experience is a plus.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Be able to communicate in English via verbal and written communications
