Job Description: Asphalt Operations and Sales Manager
Location: Houston, TX
Employment Type: Full Time

Description:

The Asphalt Operations and Sales Manager will manage the daily operations and strategic sales objectives of Southern Crushed Concrete's Asphalt production. This position is located in the Houston TX, and reports to the Business Manager of Southern Crushed Concrete.

Operations Duties:

- Directs operation and maintenance of asphalt production.
- Supervises operations personnel such as Quality Assurance, Dispatchers and Plant Foremen.
- Assures that work is in conformity with federal and state standards, accepted principles of design and engineering, and available funds.
- Monitors material quality, inspect, & troubleshoot material.
- Works closely with Quality Control Department.
- Coaches and monitors team members and sites to comply with OSHA, MSHA and safety regulations.
- Directs and/or performs maintenance & repairs on equipment.
- Calibrates plant for maximum efficiencies.
- Trouble shoots downtime and eliminate or minimize the causes in the future by implementing preventive maintenance procedures.
- Records pertinent information accurately and relay production, quality, equipment and personnel information to appropriate individuals.
- Performs daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
- Manages aggregate inventory.
- Safely and properly supervises and coordinates activities of workers.
- Troubleshoots and problem solves situations/problems (material, quality, equipment, operation/repair, etc.).
- Monitors and discusses production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
- Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance, Lockout/Tagout.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Sales Duties:

- Implements and executes strategic sales plans, upholding corporate standards, and pursuing the goal of driving new sales and increasing - market penetration.
- Supervises Sales personnel.
- Engages with key accounts, and prospective accounts, on a regular basis.
- Consults with management regarding sales activities and any other customer support issues.
- May collaborate with other lines of business to identify and act on all opportunities for the best interest of the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- The candidate should have 10+ years of related experience in asphalt production and sales.
- Estimating experience, as well as Houston market experience, is highly preferred.
- Asphalt mix design experience is a plus.
- Candidate must have technical/computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and JWS.
- Must be a self-motivated team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous and respectful of others.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
